What We Do

Heritage Building & Restoration

At Coverdale Hughes, we provide expert contracting and consultancy services in the repair, restoration and conservation of historic buildings, private homes of distinction and bespoke property developments.

We are trusted to restore and protect buildings, from Listed Medieval Cathedrals and Churches to the French Chateau which now houses the world renowned art collection at The Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle.

We offer services throughout the North of England.

Recent projects have seen us complete an end-to-end build of Cross Lanes Farm Shop, Teesdale, work on the restoration of St Nicholas’ Church, Durham City, help convert Scargill Castle, North Yorkshire, into luxury self-catering holiday accommodation and recreate traditional roof thatching at the Kierikki Stone Age Village, Finland.

Over the course of Peter Coverdale’s career, he has worked in partnership with English Heritage, local authorities, the Church of England, Museum trusts, private individuals and landowners.

Working in private residential development and bespoke building, Coverdale Hughes has been commissioned to restore listed buildings from the Heritage at Risk register, transforming derelict historical sites into exclusive contemporary living spaces for the 21st century.

Our partnership with Hughes Bros Construction means that we can provide specialism in traditional stonemasonry and heritage restoration with the latest technology, equipment and excellence in construction, groundworks and civil engineering.

We deliver excellence and competitiveness through our team of skilled craftspeople and our ability to meet and exceed client expectations lies at the heart of our company mission.

Coverdale Hughes is able to work on large restoration projects and also welcomes opportunities to support clients that require specialist small scale repairs too.
